This exhibition marks a significant moment in the Hong Kong art scene, celebrating Mr. Chui Tsz Hung's artistic achievements and contributions to the realm of New Ink Art.

Chui is a highly creative artist with a diverse range of artistic styles. In the 1970s, his use of winding and powerful sculptural rhythms and expressive lines were representative of his early landscape paintings styles. In the same era, he also pioneered a unique splash-color abstraction, inspired by the modernist color master Josef Albers (1888-1976). Injecting abstract Color-Field Painting elements into traditional ink painting, he established a modern style that set him apart. Over the past 30 years, Chui has created numerous calligraphy works. By integrating calligraphy into painting, he has developed a unique style of color-ink calligraphy that combines the two art forms seamlessly.

Chui began to devote himself entirely to ink art creation in the 1970s and won the Chinese Painting Award and the Calligraphy Award at the Hong Kong Contemporary Art Biennial Awards 1979 and 1994 respectively. He has been a driving force in promoting the New Ink Art Movement, serving as a member of the "In Tao Art Association" and as the founding member and second-term President of the "One Art Group", two key art organizations that played a pivotal role in advancing New Ink Art in Hong Kong during the 1970s and early 1980s.

Beyond his artistic endeavors, Chui is a versatile artist and an important art critic in Hong Kong. He has contributed to numerous media outlets, served as an editor for publications such as the "Artists" and the "Artention", and engaged in discussions on Hong Kong's art policy, cultural events, and cultural identity. With 3 published monographs and roles as Vice Chairman of the "Hong Kong Art Critics Alliance" and Vice Chairman of the "Hong Kong Writers Association", Chui has made significant contributions to the art community.

Born in Hong Kong, Chui's artistic career has been a testament to the evolution of the visual arts scene in Hong Kong over the past half-century. Reflecting on Chui’s lifelong journey of painting, calligraphy, writing, and teaching, one can sense his free and elegant literati temperament. He succinctly summarizes his artistic life as " the path does not stagnate; I follow the circumstances uninhibitedly".
