Three quarters fresh jazz and one dash quirky prog, Hong Kong-based maRK consists of Marcus Ho (bassist), Anna Fan (drummer), Ricky Wong (keyboardist) and Kenny Lin (saxophonist). Since the band was founded about six months ago, it has performed at many music festivals all across Southeast Asia. They’ve become media darlings, with mentions and rave reviews on Now TV and RTHK, and in Metro Daily, Esquire, Delta Bridges, In the Red, Fasttrack, The House News, Tai Kung Pao and Ming Pao.
maRK’s live performances are flashy and fun. The members’ vivacious chemistry is totally infectious and gets the crowd grooving along in no time. Audience interaction is a given at their live performances, with specially composed singing and clapping parts for fans to join in the fun.
maRK’s first EP, Jump Start, with all original compositions, debuted in early 2013. The EP’s launch concert captivated the audience with melodies borrowed from West African Gyil music dressed up in refreshing Western sounds. The EP has also been featured on the airwaves of Radio Adelaide in Australia and CiTR 101.9 FM in Canada.
The band has just released its second EP, White F* Lies, featuring six new original compositions combining jazz and progressive music.
