Rick Hok-Leung Cheung

Rick is a dreamer-to-achiever. He believes that life is an endless expedition for exploration and personal growth.

Graduated from Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, School of Dance (majoring in Musical Theatre) in 2003, he is also a holder of ISTD intermediate Tap Certificate. Throughout his professional career, Rick has worked with many famous choreographers and directors including, Martin Genest (Canada), Michael Heith (NYC), Rosalind Newman (NYC), Keith Hawley (Australia), William A Forsythe (Australia), Alex Taylor (London) and last but not least Ann Hui On-wa, and Johnnie To Kei-fung (Movie Director in Hong Kong).

In 2007, Rick has been a full-time performer on Australia P&O Cruises. Coming back to Hong Kong in 2008, he has become the Show Manager in a Hong Kong-based events management agency, ASAP Creative & Communication Ltd. Taking charge of creative concepts, production and events planning for brands including Morgan Stanley, BNP Paribas, Societte Generale, Mercedes Benz, Adidas, Reebok, and Pfizer etc. , which mark an extraordinary reputation.

Rick gets back to the performance field from September 2009. Thereafter, he has played the part: Merchant in “The Exception and the Rule”, Sister Mary Leo in “Nunsense”, Hunter in “Title of Show”, Lord Alfred Douglas in “Gross Indecency: The three trails of Oscar Wilde” , Stephen in “Postcolonial Affairs of Food and the Heart”, Daniel in “Suddenly Single”, Adam in “The Shape of Things” , Salarino in “Merchant of Venice”, and Mr. Jollygood in “Scrooge the Musical”. With the role Adam in “The Shape of Things”, Rick has been awarded “The Best Actor in Leading Role” in the 6th Hong Kong Theatre Libre. Also Rick has been nominated “The Best Actor in Supporting Role” in the 26th Hong Kong Drama Award with the role Sister Mary Leo in “Nunsense”.

Besides acting work, Rick also occurs as choreographer and movement coach. He is one of the soloists and choreographers in the program winner of Hong Kong Dance Awards 2011, “Positioning Dance Series”. Then Rick has been invited as independent artist in “The Two City - Hong Kong x Taipei Dance Festival” in the following year .

Moreover, Rick debuted his first concert as a singer-songwriter in 2011 then started his LIVE singing career onwards. During 2012 – 14 Rick is contracted with HKTV as TV Artiste.
Rick is currently the founder of local theatre company, K.O.The Box; an actor; a singer and an art curator.
