Mindful interaction with music and image

The famous line Form is Emptiness; Emptiness is Form comes from the Heart Sutra. The full Sanskrit title Prajñāpāramitā hṛdaya conveys the meaning of "transcending life cycles of birth and death, and attaining the liberating wisdom of non-arising and non-ceasing". Only 260 words in total, this ancient treasured text encapsulates the deepest wisdom of Mahayana Buddhism and is the most translated and most frequently recited text.

KJ Wong plays First Lessons in Bach as if engaging in the traditional hand-copying of the Heart Sutra, highly absorbed in mindfulness through the doors of eyes, ears, hands and mind, practising skills as well as transcending them on each key, at each step. With emotions guided by the interaction between music and image, the celebrated piece that is well-practised by every piano learner will take us into the realm where Emptiness meets Sound.
