Tsang Wing Fai

A freelance choreographer and performer wandering between street dance, contemporary dance, and theater performances, with a Bachelor's degree in Architectural Studies from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She received a full scholarship from the Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund in 2021 and graduated with Distinction in the Master of Fine Arts in Dance, specializing in Choreography at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in 2023. In 2024, she was nominated for the "Tom Brown Emerging Choreographer" at the 25th Hong Kong Dance Awards.

She staged her first personal work, "Infiltrated," in the "New Force in Motion" Series in 2019 and participated in a multidisciplinary creation in the "Choreographer and Composer Lab" from West Kowloon Cultural District in 2022. She also choreographed site-responsive works, including "Covalence," in the Eastern District Cultural Festival for the City Contemporary Dance Company in 2023. Moreover, she has performed actively for various international and local leading choreographers in recent years. She has also been awarded numerously in different street dance competitions and battles over the past decade, and has actively participated in intensives, research, and residency with different artists on improvisation, performative, creative process, and theater practices.

She is interested in rhythm, multitudes of time, and dynamics in movement. She also explores the practices of creations for introversion, with a recent focus on improvisation as performance. With her diversified artistic background, she wishes to reorganize and construct her languages in movement and creation to respond to the recognition of the self and cultural representation.
