Are you tired of typical Cantopop music, and are you looking for a change? But is it possible to combine Chinese music and jazz music? And how can dance collaborate with jazz?
Presented by the Fringe Club as part of the new “Jazz-Go-Central, Jazz-Go-Fringe” project – Phase II, Jazz + is a series of cross-over performances between jazz and other genres that will happen every month from October 2018 to May 2019.
The Jazz+ show in December will be hosted by the Alonso González Latin Jazz Quartet. Come listen to their music and discover musical elements from Africa, Latin-America and the Caribbean, inspired by the grooves of Afro-Cuban percussion, rhythms from Puerto Rico, the Caribbean “Calypso’’ and the popular “Cumbia” style of music from the north of Colombia. All these elements, combined with jazz chords and exciting melodies, create the music of the Alonso González Latin Jazz Quartet.
Alonso González (drums, timbales), Jim Schneider (keyboards), Franklin Torres (bass), Ferdinand Pantig Jr. (trumpet)
