In view of the novel coronavirus outbreak, the Hong Kong Arts Festival (HKAF) has made the difficult decision to cancel the February and March performances and events of the 48th HKAF. The cancellations will affect all 120+ performances of the 48th HKAF and its related events in February and March, including Young Friends activities, HKartsFestival@TaiKwun programming and all PLUS events, excluding PLUS films. The “No Limits” project will also not be held as scheduled in February and March.

Groundbreaking choreographer William Forsythe presents a vivid combination of new and existing work, A Quiet Evening of Dance, performed by seven of his most trusted collaborators. The works range from sparse analytic condensation to baroque inspired counterpoint, giving an intimate, pure evening of choreography, stripped down to its essence.

William Forsythe is undoubtedly one of the foremost choreographers of his generation. For this unusual configuration of new and existing work, Forsythe has imagined something akin to an evening of chamber music, designed to be listened to.
A Quiet Evening of Dance is a suite of five works that showcases the depth and breadth of Forsythe’s practice. DUO2015 began life in 1996 and a renewed version was included in Sylvie Guillem’s farewell dance program. 2016’s Catalogue was created based on the rich physical knowledge of former Forsythe dancers Jill Johnson, Brit Rodemund and Christopher Roman. The remaining works are premieres for three and seven dancers, taking viewers right up to the present minute of Forsythe’s ever-evolving choreographic history.
The evening is performed by seven of Forsythe’s most trusted collaborators, who promise to provide insight into the art of ballet and the mind of the man who has had such an impact on its continued development.
