楊奇峰

Yeung Ki Fung (Kenneth) is a versatile performer of historical keyboards (harpsichord, fortepiano, organ, clavichord) and bowed bass strings (viola da gamba and violoncello), scholar and director.

A harpsichord laureate of the 31st International Competition of Early Music Yamanashi (Kohu, Japan), Kenneth is also a recipient of major scholarships, notably Irving & Lena Lo Fellowship, Mary Coffman Tilton Harpsichord Fellowship, Bernard Van Zuiden Music Prize, HKSAR Government Scholarship, Yamaha Scholarship and C.F. Hu Postgraduate Memorial Scholarship.

As an avid performer, Kenneth gives solo, chamber and improvisational performances worldwide, including the United States, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Japan, Hong Kong and Macau. He has been invited to give recitals, lectures and presentations for conferences and festivals; moreover, he worked and performed with John Butt, Elizabeth Blumenstock, Bojan Čičić, Bruce Dickey, Jeffrey Thomas, Matthias Maute, etc. As a scholar, his current research explores musical directing practices from 1500 to 1800 and pedagogy in historical improvisation. As an ensemble director, he directed works by Marc-Antoine Charpentier, François Couperin, Michel Corrette, J.S. Bach and Alessandro Scarlatti.

His principal mentors include Elisabeth Wright, Joanna Blendulf, Dr. Mark Edwards, Dr. David Breitman, James Christie, Webb Wiggins, Catharina Meints, Dr. Timothy Kwok and Dr. David Chung. He participated masterclasses and received private instructions from Pierre Hantaï, Christophe Rousset, Arthur Haas, Mitzi Meyerson, Enrico Baiano, Jacques Ogg, Costantino Mastroprimiano, Edoardo Bellotti, Jörg-Hannes Hahn, etc.

Kenneth holds a B.A. in Music with First-Class Honours (majoring modern cello) from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, an M.M. in Historical Performance from the Oberlin College and a D.M. in Early Music - Historical Keyboards from the Indiana University, with Music Theory as doctoral minor. His outstanding performance in doctoral qualifying exam received a special commendation from his advisory committee. Currently, Dr. Yeung works as a harpsichord instructor in The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
