CCDC in Residence 2020 ── Mr Blank 【Early-bird Discount for best available seats】
These days, you are the watcher and you are also being watched. But if something is captured on film, does it mean it is necessarily true? What is the camera doing? Is it protecting, exploiting or manipulating?
Co-created by CCDC resident choreographer Sang Jijia and award-winning playwright Janice Poon, Mr Blank is a dance theatre experience that boldly challenges the use of surveillance cameras in our everyday lives. Our world is like a giant film studio. Every moment is recorded. Everyone is used to being watched. One Mr Blank after another looks for his own self in the traces left behind in this enclosed space. Enter the camera through the cracks in Mr Blank’s memory. Take on the powers that see everything.
Mr Blank premiered in 2018, and now returns in an extended form with a new set and stage configuration. Are you ready to watch the world again? And are you ready to be watched as well?
Following the performance on 27 December, there will be a meet-the-artist session featuring choreographer Sang Jijia and his creative team. After the show on 28–29 December, there will be a stage tour. All those wishing to join the tour need to pre-register on CCDC’s website at http://www.ccdc.com.hk/en/.
