Shakespeare4All annual Gala performance returns this year on November 28th & 29th with “Julius Caesar 3030”, adapted and directed by Shiona Carson. This will be the first time ever S4A annual Gala Performances meet everyone via a virtual online streaming format!
‘Julius Caesar 3030 takes us to a galaxy far, far away.’
Julius Caesar’s ambition to be the leader of planet Rome, the most powerful planet in the galaxy, is sending warning signs through members of the Senate House. He must be stopped, and this can only happen if Brutus, his most trusted adviser can be pulled to the DARKSIDE under the guise that this mission is for the good of Rome. Will he join the DARKSIDE or will Marc Antony, Caesar’s top General stop him in time?
‘Julius Caesar 3030’ is the latest masterpiece of youth drama production brought to you in this September by Shakespeare4All and directed by Artistic Director, Shiona Carson, adapted from ‘Julius Caesar’ by William Shakespeare. With a cast, orchestra, production team and volunteers of over 40 young people of age 8 - 15, this performance promises to astound you with their ability, talent and dedication.
Due to Covid-19 outbreak and uncertainties, Gala Performance this year has taken a whole new approach! Instead of a theatre performance, we will be producing a Gala film and showcase the performances through online streaming! In August and September, drama training and rehearsal for the young actors were all changed into virtual online sessions. At the same time, all props, costumes, filming tools were delivered to the cast by our production team. During the month of October, through instant online directing by Ms. Shiona Carson, family members of the cast have all became part of the filming crew and were in charge of the filming sessions at home! At the completion of all filming sessions with young actors in their own homes, S4A production team then carried on with the post-production of editing the film with special effects etc. Also, to add-on a selection of rearranged theme music from different iconic TV shows and movies performed and recorded by a team of youth orchestra. This Gala film promises to take you through a magnificent journey of a brand new Shakespearean world, join us on 28th and 29th November at the free online streaming of perfomances!
Shakespeare wrote for the people and we at S4A endorse this with our work. We wish to give every child in Hong Kong an opportunity to reach higher than they have ever reached before, and we achieve this with Shakespeare’s work.
