Overview

Self-care is always our priority. Are you ready for something relaxing and healing? Here is your chance! HKEXAT will collaborate with artist folks to bring you “Be Together Mind-Body-Spirit Wellness Expressive Arts Cultural Festival 2021”.

This year “Mind-Body-Spirit Wellness Expressive Arts Cultural Festival” will be held from 14th August to 12th September in San Po Kong. The theme, Be Together, is chosen in the hope of unifying individuals after such prolonged period of disconnection. Not only could we reconnect physically, but we also restore our inner balance. Join our expressive arts therapists to explore the way of maintaining healthy emotions through different arts creations. More to that, you could also experience music imagery, Botoh, Yoga, printmaking, Nagomi Pastel Art, People’s Theatre & community music prepared by professional artists and therapists from various art categories.

We welcome parent-child, youth, children with autism, sexual minorities, adults, literally anyone. And it is FREE!

1. A sharing on Self-revelatory performance (Self-Rev): The Interplay of Performing Arts and Mental Health

Arts have therapeutic potentials. Yet, there have been some debates as to whether arts intentionally and primarily made for therapeutic purposes may also be worthy of performance for a general audience. In this seminar, through sharing her creative journey and therapeutic outcomes when making her solo Self-Rev (one of the approaches in drama therapy), DOTS, the speaker will explore with you this topic and the room for further merger of arts and mental health.

6. "Shining Your Mono-self" Mini Lampshade with Printmaking Workshop
Description :
What can you see when you close your eyes?
You will find yourself and endless stories in your mind, and embrace your inner darkness and light.
Through the process of printmaking with shades and lines, you will explore your inner side.

Crafting a lampshade in your tempo, putting in a candle, your endless stories will be shone from the middle.

Let's interact with printmaking in light and shadow!

8. Music Guided Journey Workshop
Description:
No matter if it's a concert, or a movie with great soundtrack, music seems to relate to our ‘hearing’, out of our five senses. Maybe we feel the music in another way, to connect to our feelings. Other than relieving stress and expressing emotions, there is a potential to explore our innerselves.

You will:
-experience expression and exploration of self via listening to music
-Attempt to choose suitable music for yourself
-To enable participatants to be more aware of our breathing, emotions and embodied pulse, to relax the mind and body

No more taboo, together we look straightly to death and learn living from it.

Expressive Arts Therapy Oriented Theatre is founded by Expressive Arts Therapist of HKEXAT - Ms. Canna Tang, it is a theatre-based approach to Expressive arts therapy, the theatre will become a safe container of thoughts and emotions, the flow of imagination and creation will be initiated in multi-modalities art experiences. Audiences will be guided to feel the moment and to create “Aesthetic Response” during the performance, a two-way arts and communication platform will be constructed. It’s a place where everyone can be seen.

“Sein zum Tode” incorporates poetry, visual art, dance & movement, music and drama to share the performers’ thoughts and explorations in death. It allows us to lower rational thinking, simply feel and be aware of how death leaves its mark on our life.

21. Dance with your Shadow – a Butoh workshop (in a self-healing approach)
Description :
At the other side of our conscious life, there’re shadows we carry with. The negative effect of the shadow may thwart our most well-meant intentions. (Carl Jung) But if we are able to see our own shadow, the confrontation brought up to the personal unconscious which could make the connection with our body and inner self again.
This workshop will give a brief introduction to Butoh and focus on a conscious research in the unification of our body/mind/soul, so that we can deeply enjoy the intrinsic process of metamorphosis through the spirit of Butoh dance.
