Alex Tsai

Alex Tsai is a UK-trained designer-maker based in Hong Kong. His multi-faceted career in the local contemporary jewellery industry has earned him valuable experience in design education and brand management. 2016 marks the official launch of his personal brand, Alex Tsai Petit Object Design.

Focusing on small scale hand-fabricated metalwork, Alex embraces a minimalistic design aesthetic, transforming his own interpretation of nature’s designs into pocket-size sculptures. The brand’s signature collection is undoubtedly “Legacy of the Apiarist Collection”. Derived from the designer’s appreciation for honey bees, this collection celebrates their contribution to our society as well as shedding light on colony collapse disorder (CCD), an increasingly severe phenomenon contributing to a global decline in bee population.

Alex Tsai’s latest Collection titled “Minor trophies” features the study of animal physiology, and the designer’s own artistic interpretation on the subject matter. The collection consists of lapel pins and cufflinks modelled after various animal species.
