Situated in the south, Hong Kong was often known as an entrepôt , it sounds like has not much relationship with the natural ecology, in fact most of the botanists start their exploration of the nature of southern China from Hong Kong, and even the specimens that come in are processed here. It is not too much to say that it is a ‘botanical land’.

How human beings changed the natural environment of Hong Kong? We can start from the history British colonization as the British were fond of Botanical studies. Today, the Bauhinia seems familiar to us , however we may not know it already spread all over the world; In the future, Hong Kong may be the best place for horticultural plants. Let us focusing on the changes of plants from past to present and found the possibility of Hong Kong local plant.
