Jockey Club Arts-based Cross Curriculum Creative Learning Project Year 2 Retrospective-Knowledge Exchange - Connecting Creative Collaborators

2023-05-10 ~ 05-11 ( 10:00 AM ~ 5:00 PM )
Free
Overview

Funded by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust and organised by The Absolutely Fabulous Theatre Connection, the Jockey Club Arts-based Cross Curriculum Creative Learning Project (JCABC) is a 3-year programme launched in 2021 that involves 10 primary schools with the objective of developing ‘Creative Classrooms' through a thematic, project-based cross-curriculum approach. With two teachers from core subjects such as Chinese or Visual Arts, plus one Creative Practitioner (CP), the cross-curriculum lesson plans aim to nurture in students a self-directed learning approach to enhance critical thinking skills and creativity via experiential learning through the arts.

In the second year of the programme, teachers and CPs have continued to refine and improve the programme, widening the scope of collaborations and reflections on the relative successes and challenges to date. The Knowledge Exchange forum represents an important opportunity to gather for mutual exchange and learning, to bring about further enhancements in both teacher and student learning, and between teachers and CPs.

The 2-day forum will focus on these collaborations, with sharing and discussions between arts and education professionals. Keynote speakers include Mr Steve Moffitt, CEO of A New Direction, a UK organisation that develops innovative creative change programmes for young people in London; and Mr Kittikorn Hongyim, Educational Advisor, Future Skill Foundation & The Institute for the Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology, Thailand. They will both share their years of experience in creativity teaching and learning in arts and STEAM. Creativity education in England, Thailand and Hong Kong (through AFTEC) use the same model to diverse ends and impact.

Also invited to the themed panel sessions at the forum are leaders from both the arts and education sectors to review current collaborations and explore the development of cross-sector training in future.

☆Themed panel sessions’ guests: Prof Anna Chan, Dr Lesley Chan, Dr Pauline Chan, Prof Gillian Choa, Ms Winsome Chow, Dr Yvonne Huang, Dr Anna Hui, Ms Heidi Lee, Principal Franky Poon, Prof Tseng Sun Man, Mr Simon Wong & Mr Louis Yu MH
