Bearing wound, honouring suture is a performance and a collaboration between artist Pamela Leung and writer and independent curator Yang Yeung that explores pain and solitude, nostalgia and longing, homecoming in space and movement across spaces around a chair. As an object created for the human body, a chair is a physical reminder of human presence as much as absence in space. Does it also symbolise loss or the hope of return? Stitching connects – threads, gestures, voices, and silences, unseen. In the rhythm of making, only the now exists.
The performance will be followed by a Meet-the-Artist session and a Q&A session.
Before the performance, a talk on textile heritage by Uzbek textile designer and artist Dilyara Kaipova and independent contemporary art curator, writer and lecturer Yulia Sorokina from Kazakhstan will be hosted at CHAT. Click here to learn more and RSVP to the sharing.
