Overview

Indigo is a natural blue dye extracted from plants, such as Indigofera tinctoria, Polygonum tinctorium (Japanese Indigo) and Strobilanthes cusia (Chinese Indigo). Since 2019, CHAT has developed Seed to Textile, a project that explores the community impact of growing and processing Indigo and other natural dyes in Hong Kong with a group of farmers, artists and collaborators.

This 2-hour workshop offers participants the experience of dyeing with CHAT’s traditional Japanese fermentation indigo dye vat.

In this workshop, participants will learn to make beautiful patterns using resist dye techniques. Each session focuses on one technique.
