Swing Dance originated in the Harlem district of New York City in the 1920s, during a time when radios were not yet widely used. People would gather in dance halls of various sizes to meet new friends and enjoy the popular music of the time - swing jazz - through dancing. As a social dance, Swing Dance is not restricted to a fixed dance partner or specific moves, but rather emphasizes personal expression and human connections, making it accessible even to those without dance experience.

Quarryside is thrilled to partner with Swing Pocket and establish a series of Swing Dance events, demonstrating the different dimensions of Swing Dance. Join us for the Swing Dance Beginner Class and immerse yourself in this retro and spontaneous dance language.

Class content
You'll be introduced to the basic steps and vocabularies of partnered dance. Fun exercises and different steps combos will allow efficient learning while we listen to a lot of jazz music.

Suitable for...
Good for absolute beginners,especially happy workers enjoying work-life balance😉! We tend to rotate partner in classes to simulate the social dancing culture of Swing Dance so come solo or with friends you'll be dancing with everyone in class.

- Each person is limited to registrating 2 quotas, each email can be used once only
- Need to attend all 4 lessons continuously
- Participants must be 15 years old or above
- Swing Dance is a social dance, so there will be no fixed dance partner in the trial class
- Please avoid wearing high heels and open back clothing
