Overview

Humans collected leaves and bark to hold foods and water before wooden ware was invented; pottery dates back to 26,000 years ago, and glass products have been in production for over 500 years; these materials are still widely used in modern dinnerware. As artisans fulfilled the demands of people who wanted things that matched their taste, many dinnerwares are more than ordinary daily-used objects but art.

Beauty in Handcraft Wares showcases glassware by KC Wong, woodenware by White Puppy Workshop, and a selection of antique Chinese porcelain from Mr. Suen Siu-Wah’s private collection. We hope everyone can look closely at the works of ancient and modern artisans to explore the beauty in every detail and rethink the differences between things for daily use and arts.

All exhibits are for sale. It could be the best time to shop for your holiday gifts.

We prepared two Artist Talk seminars for people interested in making or collecting dinnerware to meet with the glass artist KC Wong and woodcraft artisan Dickens.
