Wolfgang Bender

Wolfgang Bender grew up in Cologne, London, Warsaw, and Berlin. He received violin lessons from Wolfgang Herzfeld, studied with Bernhard Hartog and Prof. Eckhardt Fischer, and chamber music with Prof. Christoph Poppen ( Cherubini Quartet ), as well as piano/improvisation with Walter Norris in Berlin and Detmold. He played for several years in the Kammerphilharmonie Amadé ( Frieder Obstfeld ), the Kammerakademie Neuss ( Johannes Goritzki ), as a guest in the Oriol Ensemble and the Kammerakademie Potsdam. Today, he is the concertmaster of the Berliner Symphoniker for opera projects with Christoph Hagel and is involved with the orchestra of the Komische Oper and various chamber orchestras: Kammerorchester Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, Deutsches Kammerorchester, Neues Kammerorchester Potsdam, and Kammerorchester Berlin ( Kathrin Scholz ). He plays in the Ensemble Mosaik, the European Music Project, Musikfabrik Köln, and the Ensemble Modern.
