Controverse: A ChorallaborationThe Harmonics Choir Hong Kong

Overview

"Controverse: A Chorallaboration"《眾爭・眾詠》( a portmanteau of "choral collaboration" ) is a joint-choir collaborative concert organized by community choirs, including The Harmonics Choir HK ( the lead group ), Elements Choir, Tidal Voices, and the Festive Chamber Choir. This 'chorallaboration' is centered around themes of anti-war, peace, love, humanitarian unity, and empowerment in direct response to worldwide political tribulations.

Caught in the crossfires of clashing agendas and deep-rooted inequalities that manifest as mass destruction and cataclysms, we find ourselves descending into an era where critical social discourses - such as access to social resources, exploration of sexual orientations and gender expressions, and religious dialogues - are once again drowned out by discord and silenced by oppression. This mosaic of ever-spinning conflicts sweeps us back into a cyclical deadlock, seemingly dictated by the vices of the human condition. Yet, in a world ablaze with dissonance, we believe in finding collective resilience in harmony - we believe in love, even when we feel it not.

Holding fast to this conviction, we offer our concert to hold space for those who feel equally troubled and stifled and those seeking solace, resonance, and a glimmer of light amidst the smog. With a repertoire comprising 21 pieces in diverse languages, genres, and styles, we invite you to join us in our musical reverie. Together, as a collective musical community, we would like to guide you through profound introspections on the weight that comes with grief, anguish, and lament; what it means to interrogate, scrutinize, and reflect; and the courage it takes to have faith, to yearn, and to believe in a world beyond the horizon where peace and tranquility reign.

**With our concert themed around humanity and unity, we want to donate 15% of the concert ticket sale proceeds to the Christian Action Centre for Refugees as a sign of support to their operations. They are dedicated to providing humanitarian assistance to asylum seekers and refugees in Hong Kong, including services such as medical and psycho-social support, emergency response, education, employability training, empowerment and outreach.**
