Bernard Carpio

Bernard found his love for music at a very early age, he was heavily influenced by his father, Tony Carpio and his Big Band (The Tony Carpio Big Band). He started learning the flute at the age of 10, alto saxophone at the age of 15 and not long after soprano saxophone.
Whilst studying at King George V School he participated in a number of bands including the KGV Jazz Band and Orchestra, this led to him being featured for the English Schools Foundation (ESF) Orchestra. He won the Best Performance 2 years in a row at KGV's annual Inter-House music competition. His efforts for his performances were also recognized as he won several awards for his excellence in music known as Colours Awards.
He currently performs in the Grand Hyatt as well as for various functions and shows in and out of Hong Kong. Some of these include: The Hong Kong International Jazz festival; The Macau Jazz Festival; he was featured at Jazz clubs in the Philippines, Singapore, Bangkok, Shanghai, Indonesia & the US.; New Years’ Eve at Disneyland with the Tony Carpio Big Band; The Grand opening of the Peninsula Shanghai; also performed with Kenny B, Frances Yip, Michael Wong & Bianca Wu.
Bernard aspires to be a performing/recording solo artist in the future, hoping to influence and bring more awareness to Jazz and other live music in Hong Kong and around the world.
