Nicholas Beckwith

Nicholas Beckwith has served as a resident actor, assistant director, drama educator and theatre project leader in S4A since 2016. Nicholas is proud to have performed in many S4A shows, including the Radio Play: Midsummer Night's Dream (2016, 2017, 2019), Twelfth Night (2017,2018), Romeo and Juliet (2020,2021), and Hamlet (2021). Other S4A performances include The Marvellous Box (2019); Are You Asleep Yet (2018); Hubbub, Theatre for the Very Young (2017, 2018, 2019); Giggling is the Best Medicine (2021); and Open Wide (2021). In addition to performing, Nicholas has been the Head Tutor for S4A since 2019, most notably leading the Transformation Through Creativity project.

Nicholas served as the interim Artistic Director for S4A from July 2022 until May 2023. During that time, he led several projects, including the S4A Gala - King Lear, The Dragon King (2022), Radio Play, Midsummer Night's Dream (2022), Where Is Will (2022), SWIRE White Christmas Street Fair-S4A performance (2022).

Nicholas was appointed as the Artistic Director of Shakespeare4All in April 2023. Since then, he has led and directed Hubbub, Theatre for the Very Young (2023), Battle of the Bards (2023), Transformation Through Creativity Festival (2023), Shakespeare In Action - King Lear (2023) and is proud to add the S4A Gala - A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Elements of Magic (2023).

Originally from Christchurch, New Zealand. Having started performing at the age of 15, Nicholas moved to Sydney, Australia, in Jan 2011 to pursue an Advanced Diploma in Performing Arts at ED5 INTERNATIONAL, Australia's leading performing arts academy, where he received professional training in Drama, Musical Theatre, Ballet, Commercial Jazz, Technical Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Tap, Group Singing, Vocal Lessons, Performance Technique and Repertoire Performance. While in Sydney, Nicholas was actively engaged in numerous performing arts events, including Hats Off Charity Event, the Chinese New Year Parade (as Dance Captain), Sydney's Premier's Concert; Breast Cancers Black Tie Event; Project dance; and Platform Shorts: Sydney Fringe Festival. After Graduating from ED5 in December 2012, Nicholas worked as a performer at Tokyo Disney Resort in Japan as part of the 30th-anniversary cast from Feb 2013 - April 2014.

Nicholas moved to Hong Kong in 2014 to become a Resident Actor for Chunky Onion Productions Limited. He held this role from Sep 2014 - Jan 2016, performing, developing and directing drama performances and events in Hong Kong, Macau and mainland China. Nicholas has also worked extensively as a Theatre in Education performer in Hong Kong before joining S4A, leading drama and performance workshops, directing drama for Hong Kong schools, and regularly performing for educational centres and NGOs. These companies include Disney World Family, Dovetales Theatre Company, Hong Kong Science Museum, Theatrebus, Glitter and Gore and Pacific Place's Christmas Experience with Santa. Nicholas is also the Choir Director and co-lead of the SEN Choir, Voc-abilities (a Choir with a difference) since 2021.
