Born and raised in Hong Kong, Tony Sze is a diverse drummer who wields the power of both cutting through heavy rock guitar riffs and complementing delightful jazz solos. Influenced by 2000s rock music, he sat down behind a drum set for the first time when he was 16-years-old and has been mesmerized by the craft of drumming and the art of music since then.

After high school, Tony Sze moved to New York City and was immediately exposed to the vibrant music scene of the city. He has performed with various bands in venues ranging from the staples of local rock and metal scene, such as Blackthorn 51 and Revolution Bar & Music Hall, to regular stops in the city for touring artists, such as Gramercy Theatre and Stage 48. Living in the mecca of Broadway musicals, he was also called up for multiple musical theater productions, including Rent at Baruch College Mason Hall, Little Shop of Horrors at the Rose Nagelberg Theater and Cabaret at the Bernie West Theater. During his stay in New York City, he also fell in love with another musical treasure of the city, jazz music. While he started out studying jazz to diversify his musical language, it soon became his sole obsession. Nourished
by the sonorous jazz scene of the city, he was exposed to the tradition and innovativeness of jazz through classic records and watching modern greats at clubs.

Tony Sze attended the Chinese University of Hong Kong for a Master of Arts in Music degree to further develop his musicianship after moving back to his Hometown in 2021. While he was spending much of his time studying the tradition of Western classical music, he continued to be an active voice in the local jazz and indie music scene and performed with groups such as minor. at Lau Bak Livehouse and Left., Samson Lui Trio at Chez Trent and his own group at Fountain de Chopin. As an alumni of the Hong Kong Youth Jazz Collective, he also performed at Tsuen Wan Town Hall and was awarded the best band during the annual concert.
