High Baritone Desmond Chung Recital Concert - Salute to Classic Vocal
Desmond Chung is an accomplished baritone singer who has been passionate about singing since a young age. He has pursued his artistic aspirations and achieved remarkable progress and success in his singing career.
Mr. Chung was a student of renowned soprano Yau Hiu Chau, and later studied under Professor Wang Kaiwei from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and Professor Gong Dongjian. He has been actively involved in the choral field, serving as the bass section leader, Music Score Management, and Recreative committee member of the Chang Feng Chrous, dedicating himself wholeheartedly to the chorus's service.
In the realm of opera and musical theater, Mr. Chung has participated in over 20 productions, portraying numerous classic roles, such as Zuniga in "Carmen," the Second Armed Man in "The Magic Flute," and the Phantom in "The Phantom of the Opera." He has been invited to perform extensively both locally and abroad, including in Macau, Guangzhou, Zhongshan, Zhuhai, Taiwan, Singapore, and Malaysia.
Mr. Chung has repeatedly won accolades in various international vocal competitions, including multiple awards in the 10th Hong Kong International Vocal Competition in 2023, in categories such as Concert Aria, Chinese Art Song, Chinese Folk Song, and Opera Aria. Additionally, he has been awarded the Vocal Performance (Level 3) certification by TQUK, affirming his outstanding achievements in the field of vocal music.
For this occasion, Mr. Chung has specially curated the " High Baritone Desmond Chung Recital Concert - Salute to Classic Vocal" inviting a group of talented musicians to perform. The program features a variety of classic vocal works and a series of cherished Chinese songs.
The concert is organized by Chang Feng Chorus, with a lineup of accomplished performers, including the Chung Hwa·Yu Hua Chorus (Conductor: Mr. Eric Cheung, Pianist: Mr. Tommy Tam), tenor David Leung, mezzo-soprano Lovina Hui, violinist Foley Lam and pianist Albert Kwong.
This will be Mr. Chung's fourth solo recital at the Hong Kong City Hall Concert Hall, following his previous concerts in January 2016, March 2010, and January 2008. He will showcase his unique baritone voice and profound artistic substance in interpreting these beloved classic vocal works, allowing the audience to appreciate his refined singing technique and deep artistic expression.
The concert will be held on Sunday, December 1, 2024, at 7:45 pm in the Hong Kong City Hall Theater. All are welcome to attend this captivating musical event.
