Overview

Discover the traditional culture of the 400-year-old agricultural and coastal village of Shui Hau! Join a guided tour and:

Explore folk beliefs, customs and legends of Shui Hau.
- Step inside an architectural restored traditional dwelling and a 100-year-old grain store.
- Walk in unique landscape of wetlands, former farmlands, recultivated fields, and farming ponds.
- Learn about traditional harvesting methods and tools unique to Shui Hau.
- Discover the past and present communal life of Wei Tau people.
- Be a part of keeping traditional culture alive by acknowledging and understanding Shui Hau village history.

About the project:
This guided tour is a part of a project that explores the regeneration of Shui Hau village by conserving the 400-year-old coastal village's built and cultural heritages. Together with villagers, The School of Architecture at the Chinese University of Hong Kong have researched on disappearing traditions, using collective memories to gather the village community, raising awareness of cultural conservation for both villagers and the general public. 

 

Remarks:
1. The guided tour may change the route temporarily without prior notice due to weather, road conditions, physical condition of participants or tour guides on the day.
2. Minor parts of the tour are on steep paths or rugged terrain.
3. The language of the guided tour is Cantonese.

How to get to Shui Hau:
Take the MTR or bus to Tung Chung Station. Walk 5 minutes to Tung Chung bus station and take bus number:
11 Tung Chung - Tai O
11A Tung Chung - Shek Pik ( weekends and public holidays only )
23 Tung Chung - Ngong Ping

Take the ferry to Mui Wo Ferry Station and take bus number:
1 Mui Wo Ferry Pier - Tai O
2 Mui Wo Ferry Pier - Ngong Ping
4 Mui Wo Ferry Pier - Tong Fuk
