Jane Lau is a talented and accomplished choral conductor whose passion for music has flourished since childhood. Throughout her primary and secondary education at Good Hope School, she was an active choir member. In her senior years, her remarkable abilities led to her selection as student conductor, garnering recognition when she received the Student Musician of the Year award from the South China Morning Post. Additionally, Jane was a member of the Hong Kong Children's Choir, where she delved into diverse genres of choral music and toured internationally.

Jane furthered her musical education by earning a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Music from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She then obtained a Master of Arts in Music, specialising in choral conducting, from the Baptist University of Hong Kong, along with a Performer's Diploma in Pianoforte and Singing from the Trinity College of Music.

Jane started her career as the head of the music department at Belilios Public School (BPS), where she led the school choir to numerous awards at music festivals. Notably, the BPS choir was named Best Girls' Choir in 1997, won the Gold Award at the Australian International Music Festival in 1999, and secured first place in the Ensemble Singing Category at the International Choral Kathaumixw Festival in Canada in 2000.

From 2007 to 2020, Jane led the music department at Marymount Secondary School (MSS), where the MSS choir achieved significant success in the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival. Under her leadership, the choir was crowned Champion in both Chinese and foreign language categories in 2013, earning titles of The Best Girls' Choir of the Year and Most Outstanding Choir of the Year. They repeated this success in 2015, again winning champion in both categories and reclaiming the title of The Best Girls' Choir of the Year.

While at MSS, Jane led the choir to impressive success in several international competitions. In 2012, they travelled to Nyiregyhaza, Hungary, winning the Gold Award and the Best Kodaly Performance Award at the 9th Cantemus International Choral Festival, with Jane recognised as Best Conductor. This achievement ranked sixth in Radio Television Hong Kong's 2012 Top Ten Music Headlines.

In 2014, the choir excelled at the XII International Choral Festival - The Singing World in St. Petersburg, Russia, winning First Place and a Gold Diploma in both the Children's and Modern Music categories. They also received four special jury prizes: Best Performance of a Russian Composer's Work, Best Performance of Contemporary Music, Best Soloist Award, and the Public Affection Award, determined by audience votes.

Two years later, the choir travelled to Debrecen, Hungary, for the Béla Bartók 27th International Competition and Folklore Festival, where they secured first place in the Youth category and earned a special prize for their outstanding interpretation of a modern Hungarian piece.

In 2018, at the 66th International Choral Competition Polifonico Guido d'Arezzo in Arezzo, Italy, the choir, under Jane's guidance, achieved an outstanding five awards. They claimed First Prize in the Compulsory Program, received Second Prizes in both Sacred and Secular Music categories, secured Third Prize in the Monographic Program, and were honoured with a special prize for the Best Performed Piece by a living Italian composer.

Jane began her role as the conductor for the Hong Kong Medical Association Choir in 2023.
