As part of the Non-Local Non-Solo series by nProjekt, we are happy to welcome artists from Barcelona and Buenos Aires to Hong Kong this November. This series, an evolution of the original Non-Solo, expands on the concept of artistic and cultural exchanges by fostering dialogue between local and international practices. Partnering with two artist-run spaces overseas, this new chapter seeks to broaden the scope of visual conversations, connecting diverse perspectives in a dynamic cross-cultural context.
The exhibition I Know It By Heart presents an evocative confluence of memory, loss and the persistence of history. Featuring Sofia Ungar's (@sofiungar) deeply personal video works alongside contributions from local artists, Jessie Tam (@jessie_tam_), Heiwa Wong (@heiwawong) and Winsome Wong (@wsome_wd), the exhibition provides a reflective space in which fragments of the past resurface. Ungar's Aliento, for example, interweaves traces of lost correspondence with her aunt in Argentina in the late 70s and early 80s, creating a haunting palimpsest on a misty window. In dialogue with these themes, Tam's Flashback of the Eyeball Caretaker and Wong's meditations on family knots reveal different layers of collective and personal history.
