Marcus Gilmore

Marcus Gilmore is a Grammy Award winning drummer/composer described as, "startlingly innovative…with a genuinely broad scope," by pianist Vijay Iyer. In all of his playing, Gilmore integrates a unique style where he is musically expanding rhythm, while supporting the diverse array of the finest musicians in the world with whom he plays.

In 2020, Gilmore was featured on the soundtrack for the Oscar winning Pixar film Soul. Also that year, he premiered his first orchestral composition with members of the Cape Town Philharmonic through the Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative. Most recently, Gilmore is known for his work with his group Actions Speak and new special project, Silouhwav, in addition to innovative solo and trio engagements where he continues to explore percussion with new sound compositions and rhythms thrilling music audiences worldwide. He looks forward to the anticipated release of his debut album as a bandleader.
