DanceHub Wellness Workshop #4
The Body Speaks: Dancing with Stress

Unbind yourself in the rhythm, let your body sway; Find a rhythm that feels comfortable for you.

Combining elements of dance, music, and drawing, we engage in awareness, improvisational expression, creation, and sharing with others. Through powerful rhythms, we sway freely together in waves of sound, releasing stress and rediscovering our grounding; through visual creation, we transform abstract sensory experiences from movement into visible colors and shapes, gaining a more intuitive view of our energy flow, and collectively feeling and sharing.

No dance or arts experience required-just bring a curious, respectful heart and comfortable clothes for easy movement.

Transform stress into kinetic energy, let emotions flow; Meet the present you in motion and stillness.

Street Dance and Expressive Arts Therapy
Due to various factors, emotions and stress are often hard to express verbally.
Expressive Arts Therapy flexibly uses intermodal interactions and transformations of multiple art form, based on person-centered principles of confidentiality, safety, and non-judgment, touching the inner world through art and providing non-verbal expression opportunities.

Street dance is full of energy and is often considered to enhance flexibility and muscle strength. Beyond physical fitness, its strong rhythmic movements can activate the parasympathetic nervous system, reducing cortisol (stress hormone) secretion. The combination of limb coordination and spatial awareness promotes neuroplasticity. Street dance culture's party, battle, and cypher forms emphasize improvisation, authentic expression, and community connection. Improvisation requires high focus and mind-body unity, clearly revealing the dancer's state and creativity. Interpersonal interactions through synchronized or responsive movements create collective resonance and connection. Thus, street dance is also an art beneficial to physical, mental, and spiritual health.

From the perspective of expressive arts therapy, integrating street dance rhythms with other creative art media transcends verbal limitations, exploring the inner world from multiple angles, expressing life experiences hard to describe in words, deepening self-awareness, expression, and interpersonal communication skills, integrating mind-body balance, and enhancing community and spiritual health.

Deepening Series Classes #4
The Body Tells Stories: Listening to Inner Dialogues

The Deepening Series will centre around four pairs of body movement, inviting you to gradually transform abstract psychological states into concrete experiences through the intermodal flow of street dance rhythms and expressive arts.

Imbalance and balance-finding center after swaying, like learning to stand steady in life's storms; rise and fall-feeling the upward surge and safe landing, accepting the rhythms of life's ups and downs; toss and catch-experiencing the flow of trust in giving and receiving; through following or leading, finding the balance between initiative and listening. Paired with small props and art materials, listen to the body's voice in creation, slowly weaving stories unique to your life. No dance or art experience needed-just comfortable clothes and a curious, respectful heart.
