Voices of the New Belarus is a play composed by Belarusian playwright Andrei Kureichik, from interviews, letters and testimony of 16 Belarusian citizens who were arrested, jailed and beaten by government police before and after the 2020 presidential elections in Belarus. Many of the characters in Voices were Belarusians who, before their arrest, had been apolitical, and were shocked by the violence they observed and endured. The play is now being read and produced in many countries around the world. Our production is designed to show the interconnectedness of people’s struggles around the globe and includes actors from Hong Kong, South Africa, Australia, Palestine, Poland and the United States.
