Adam is a fable in five scenes. A boy wakes up with amnesia, presented with a box filled with moments of the past, a journey of discovery in a lost city, and debates on the significance of memory. In a world where old memory is constantly replaced by new ones, who can determine what should be commemorated?
“Though she may forget, I will not forget you!
See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands...""
Isaiah 49:15-16
Adam was originally written on the theme of ""memory"" by Edgar Cheung. The script has won the Adjudicator's Award in the Hong Kong School Drama Festival. Twelve years later, in the age of endless fragmentation and rewriting, the lost city in the script is all the more resonant. This performance is directed by the original director who directed the original piece: Suki Chan. After twelve years of life experience and training in theatre, Chan reinterprets the script and stages a play-reading performance with a variety of theatrical elements. The script is also translated from English to Cantonese, staging both performances for the diverse community in the city.
