The Meaning of Age – Why aren’t the Germans afraid of ageing?Goethe-Institut Hongkong

A 100-year old German lady is still learning something new every day? How do Germans see the process of ageing, of getting wrinkles and sickness? Can Hong Kong people learn anything from the German society?

Chen Yimin, a veteran journalist based in Hong Kong, visited 19 German cities and completed over 200 interviews on the topic of “Ageing” in Germany. The journey culminated a wonderful book “Sparks of Life – The German Experience with Ageing”, which sheds light on potentials of an ageing society.

Chen will share with us in the talk some of the interesting encounters she made during her visit in Germany. What are the stories behind the interviewees? How do the Germans embrace ageing?
