The Indie Narrative Book Fest, Duk6 Duk6, returns for its third edition!
Duk6 Duk6 is a festival celebrating readers and creators, with a focus on promoting comic art and storytelling.
This year, the festival moves to Tung Po in San Po Kong, spanning over 10,000 square feet across two floors, offering even more space for activities and interactions.
Whether you love creating or reading, Duk6 Duk6 promises plenty of surprises. Highlights include over 120 creative units, a comic art exhibition, risograph printing workshops, talks on creation and publishing, a new book reading corner, picture book reading sessions, book signings, and more. Independent comic artists, popular online writers, TRPG creators, and community collaboration groups will all be there. If you’ve been supporting these creators online, this is the perfect chance to meet them in person and exchange ideas!
This year’s festival features a special collaboration between independent publisher zbfghk and artist KIU, showcasing their joint project 3itches. KIU has been crafting original comics for years, and 3itches is now on its second volume in Hong Kong, with prior serialisation in Japan’s Kadokawa comic magazine. At the festival, you can purchase the first two volumes, explore an exhibition on KIU’s creative journey, and attend a sharing session. Aspiring comic creators won’t want to miss this!
Renowned picture book and travel writer Maoshan Connie will also be showcasing her works. Having spent much of her time in Japan, Maoshan Connie captures overlooked corners of communities, highlighting themes of neighbourhood support, daily life, and the interaction between people and the environment. Her art invites audiences to experience the world through their senses. The exhibition includes a selection of her works and a dialogue session with fellow picture book creator Pim Ng, where they’ll discuss the art of picture book storytelling.
Additionally, local comic publishers Dokuman and Quire Comic will join the festival. To celebrate the upcoming Lunar New Year, Quire Comic will host its signature annual event, the Comic Artist Fai Chun Gathering, featuring renowned local comic artists creating festive calligraphy pieces live. This is a fantastic chance to collect unique keepsakes while adding a festive touch to your home.
Unsure which book to buy? Visit the new book reading corner! Browse new and past releases, try them out before purchasing, and leave your thoughts to vote for your favourite writers and comic artists.
For printing enthusiasts, don’t miss the risograph printing workshop by The Memory Machine. Learn about the principles of risograph printing, experiment with designs, and create unique collages under expert guidance. Participants will take home five A4 prints of their own creation! Suitable for beginners and all ages, with limited spaces—early booking is recommended.
Details on talks, book signings, and other activities will be announced soon. Stay tuned to our website and Instagram for updates!
Duk6 Duk6 aims to inspire local creators to produce more narrative-driven works, foster meaningful exchanges between readers and creators, and cultivate a supportive storytelling community.
