City University Choir (CityU Choir) was founded in 1990, aiming at promoting and developing students’ interest in choral music. The Choir offered members opportunities to perform and to improve singing techniques, and ultimately to enrich the cultural and artistic life of the City University of Hong Kong (CityU) and the society.
Our members comprise students, alumni and staff of CityU with a majority of undergraduate students as our core members. The Choir mainly performs secular songs, pop songs, musical and movie songs, as well as sacred and classical works.
CityU Choir has organized and participated in various activities and concerts to promote choral singing in City University of Hong Kong. The Choir also organizes professional trainings for CityU fellows to equip choral singing skills and vocal knowledge. The Choir participated in Hong Kong Schools Music Festival for numerous years, and joined Busan Choral Festival & Competition in Korea in 2007 and 2008.
Apart from choral singing, the Choir has also extended its scopes of performance to musical productions. In 2005, the Choir produced its first original musical “Unforgettable” to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Choir. In 2007, the second original musical “To Touch The Untouchable Sky” was produced and was solemnly staged in Hong Kong, followed by an exchange musical tour in Guangzhou, China.
The Choir strives to provide various stage experiences to members, and to give the audience an enjoyable and fresh image of the Choir.
