As one of the most active organists in Hong Kong, Gary Tong received his musical training from Canada, and received his master’s degree in organ performance from the University of Alberta, Canada. Tong was a second prize winner of the Royal Canadian College of Organists National Organ Playing Competition.

After moving back to Hong Kong since 2005, Tong focuses his work on promoting organ music in Hong Kong as well as church music ministry. He is the founding conductor of the HKU Christian Choir since 2006, and he has been the hosting organ education programs at the HK Cultural Centre since 2007. He now serves as the Organist and Music Coordinator at Methodist International Church HK. Recent projects of Tong include a complete Handel Messiah Performance production at Methodist International Church in December 2019.
