Marco Leung

Hong Kong-born flautist and conductor Leung Chun Yin Marco is a versatile musician of his generation. Over the years, he has performed in venues across United Kingdom, Europe, Asia and Hong Kong. Marco has recently worked as guest flautist with Hong Kong New Music Ensemble, Opera Hong Kong, City Contemporary Dance Company, Inheritage Philharmonic, Bel Canto Singers and Cantabile Symphony Orchestra. Over the years, he has collaborated as concerto soloist with Pro Arte Orchestra of Hong Kong, Chung Chi Orchestra and Chung Chi Wind Orchestra. He also appeared in productions of New Vision Arts Festival and French May Arts Festival.

Being awarded full scholarships for all his degrees, including R C Lee Centenary Scholarship and Hong Kong Jockey Club Scholarship, Marco first graduated with first-class honours for Bachelor of Arts in Music at the Chinese University of Hong Kong where he studied flute with Ivy Chuang. He was then awarded his Master of Music with Distinction and subsequently Artist Diploma in Performance at the Royal College of Music in London. He was under the tutelage of Sue Thomas, Katie Bedford, Emer McDonough, Kathleen Stevenson, Stewart McIlwham and Rachel Brown in flute, piccolo and baroque flute. He also studied conducting with Ho-Man Choi and received guidance from Douglas Bostock and Mark Heron in various masterclasses.

Currently based in Hong Kong, Marco is passionate about being an educator in sharing the joy of music playing to the next generation. He is currently serving as assistant conductor of Chung Chi Wind Orchestra of the Chinese University of Hong Kong as well as band conductor at La Salle College and King's College. He is also serving as chamber coach and flute tutor in various local institutions, including The University of Hong Kong, The Educational University of Hong Kong, Caritas Institute of Higher Education, Good Hope School, La Salle Primary School, St Stephen's College Preparatory School and C.C.C Kei Wan Primary School (Aldrich Bay).
