Master Ng Kong Kin is a folk artist born in the Pok Fu Lam Village. He is known for using bamboo, grasses, soil and steel wires to create binding structures.
Master Ng’s works were exhibited in the Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale in Japan. On local occasions, his works had been seen at the Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism/Architecture 2014, “Community Classroom – The Jockey Club Art Conservation Project: Six Undead Exhibitions”, Clockenflap Music and Art Festival, and more.
Master Ng has led talks and craft workshops for local tertiary institutions, secondary and primary schools, as well as community organizations. His own sharing that comes from a genuine local lifestyle and his encouragement for creativity have been very well received by the public. Through workshops, Master Ng hopes to teach the public about bamboo craft, increase their knowledge about the craftsmanship, and find new ways to apply this local craft. Master Ng also strives to express his artistic ideas in new ways, to refresh and renovate the traditional.
