Peony Tang

Peony Tang is a graduate student from the University of Minnesota, where she studies clarinet performance under the tutelage of renowned clarinetist Songyoon Kim. Prior to her graduate studies, Peony received instruction from local clarinetist Ms. Fanny Lau and Ms. Wai Lau. She completed her Bachelor of Arts (Hon.) in Music from the Hong Kong Baptist University in 2023. Peony is an active member of several clarinet ensembles, including K622 ensemble Crescita and CLARINAIZATION Ensemble. She has also participated in local wind band performances with Hong Kong Chamber Wind Philharmonia, Shinywinds and Hong Kong Festival Wind Orchestra. She was also the Principal Clarinet of the Hong Kong Baptist University Symphony Orchestra.

This year, Peony gained further music experiences as guest bass clarinetist with Saint Paul Civic Symphony. Most recently, she becomes the Principal Clarinet of the University of Minnesota Symphony Orchestra.
