The Belilios Public School Chinese Orchestra (BPSCO) and the Belilios Old Girls' Chinese Orchestara (BOGCO) will hold the 35th Anniversary cum Singapore Pre-tour Concert at 3pm on 21 July (Sunday) at the Academic Community Hall, Hong Kong Baptist University. The orchestra members will showcase their talents by playing a wide-range of Chinese orchestra repertoire.

The concert will be conducted by alumna Natalie Tsang, with student conductor Janice Ho. Together with the orchestra, student soloist Tsang Ka-lam will perform the yangqin concerto Miluo River Capriccio, a piece that portrays Qu Yuan's noble sentiments for his country and people. The repertoire also includes the joyous and lively Festival Overture; the dynamic and vivid Festival Horse Racing, which evokes the exhilaration of horse racing; the first movement of The Four Seasons, Spring; the fourth movement from Journey to Lhasa, Beating Ghosts; the small ensemble piece Camel Bells Along the Silk Road and the erhu ensemble The Grapes are Ripe, both incorporate elements of Xinjiang folk songs; Fog Moon Night, a piece infused with popular and Cantonese opera music elements; and the lively and exuberant Enthusiastic Vigour.

Established in 2010, the BOGCO not only upholds the spirit of Chinese music promoted by its alma mater's Chinese Orchestra but also continuously provides support in various aspects to the young girls. With the BPSCO celebrating its 35th anniversary, we are dedicated to making meaningful contributions and carry forward the cherished spirit of Chinese music at our alma mater. The BPSCO has achieved remarkable results in the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival and the Hong Kong Youth Music Interflows. It has also performed in various places such as Tianjin, Xi'an, Beijing, Taiwan and Singapore. In late July, the BPSCO will once again visit Singapore for music exchange. Resident conductor Natalie Tsang, an alumna of Belilios Public School, graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong with a first honours degree in music. She is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Music at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. Under her leadership, BPSCO achieved the remarkable accomplishment of securing the first runner-up position at the 76th Hong Kong Schools Music Festival in the Chinese Orchestra - Intermediate category.
