Chan: Dreaming of Butterfly (world premiere)
Grieg: Piano Concerto in A minor
Mahler: Symphony No.1 in D minor, "Titan"
Since its founding in 2021 amidst COVID times, by students Him Chan, Daria Chung, Ivy Kan, Enoch Li, Stone Tung, and Rachel Wong, the Hong Kong Youth Philharmonia ( HKYP ) has hosted three successful instalments of summer concerts, facilitating a platform for musicians from different secondary schools and colleges to make music beyond school contexts. Throughout these concerts, we are delighted to have more and more committee members and instrumentalists sharing our musical cause.
HKYP is a student-run orchestra consisting of students aged 25 or under. Our current players study in schools all around the world, including the UK, USA and Europe. Our aim is to allow the younger generation in this industry to express their love and passion for music, as well as to share our happiness with you.
We are proud to present our fourth concert on 9 August 2024 ( Friday ), in the Jockey Club Auditorium of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. An exciting programme awaits, as we delight in collaborating with internationally acclaimed pianist KaJeng Wong in Grie's iconic Piano Concerto in A minor. Also on the programme is the world premiere of Dreaming of Butterfly, a piece written by co-founder Him Chan based on the Chinese anecdote of Zhuangzi, as well as the symphonic spectacle that is Mahler’s First Symphony "Titan". Thank you for your support – we hope to see you there!
