Ferry was once an important part of the public transport to commute across the Victoria Habour and to outlying islands in Hong Kong. Since the opening of Cross-Harbour Tunnel, the construction of Mass Transit Railway ( MTR ) and bridges in the last century, ferry has gradually become an alternative means of transportation, for example for leisure, a way of slow-living, etc. The ferry piers are also not as busy as they once were. How do the old structures/buildings like the piers, be adapted or revamped to suit the new development of Hong Kong?

Themed under "Seeds of Resilience - Re ( dis ) covering The City", 2022 Bi-city Biennale of Urbanism\ Architecture ( Hong Kong ) ( UABB2022 ) would explore various aspects of resilience in the city, and how different walks of life make their efforts to improve the community or society in the difficult time. If these people are like the “seeds” for the betterment of Hong Kong, we would like the participants of UABB2022 to witness their growth, be inspired, and generate new visions for the future.

UABB2022 is sited in the following four highly accessible and non-typical exhibition venues:
1. North Point ( East ) Ferry Pier
2. Central Market
3. Central Pier No. 7 ( Star Ferry )
4. Star Ferry Pier ( Tsim Sha Tsui )

Together with our satellite site, GDH City · Jinpi Fang (Kingway Brewery Industrial Heritage), Luohu, Shenzhen ( 2022-12-10~2023-03-12 ) , the utilization of various urban spaces in terms of spatial resilience are demonstrated.
